All that you need to know about Vayam's upcoming stage production 'Syaahi'

What started as a creative banter between a few artistic college friends led to the beginning of the
Vayam Performing Arts Society in the year 2006. The society started out as a Delhi University Dramatic
society in and grew into something bigger and better as time progressed, forming a strong hold in the
Delhi Theatre Circuit and an expanding base in Mumbai. The organization stands strong on its core
values of, Togetherness, Integrity, Creativity, and Social Empowerment.
Vayam brings together a cohesive group of hardworking and talented individuals comprising of actors,
directors, scriptwriters, technicians and working professionals in its umbrella. Vayam has produced a total
of 22 stage and street plays based on thought provoking issues and emotional subjects winning many
accolades on several competitive and non-competitive platforms across India.
The hardwork and dedication of its members has won Vayam over 500 performances and 200 national
level prizes. Vayam has earned accolades at some of the most prestigious platforms in the country that
includes the likes of the National School of Drama, National Centre for Performing Arts, Prithvi Theatre,
Jana Natya Manch, Kamani, Sirifort, India Habitat Center, Sri Ram Centre, Sahitya Kala Parishad, FICCI
Auditorium, Hindi Sahitya Academy (Indore), IIT-Delhi, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur, IIM-Ahmedabad and
the like. Vayam’s past collaborations include HelpAge India, National School of Drama, Jana Natya
Manch, Uday Foundation, Bukaholic Publications, Haldiram 's, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Satya
Nirmal Foundation, Bal Bharti Public School and MAX Hospitals.

In March 2016, Vayam celebrated its 10 years with a spectacular and grand 10 day long festival called,
'Malang - The Performing Arts Festival' from 9th to 18th March in Delhi. The first seven days witnessed street plays in some of the most prime locations of the capital by the students of Delhi campus theatre circuit and the extravagant three day finale took place at the prestigious LTG Auditorium with many
enthralling performances from different genres of performing arts like music, film, dance and theater. The
festival was attended by celebrated artists and groups including Himani Shivpuri, Rakesh Bedi, Paritosh
Tripathi, Guinness World Record Holder - Mrityunjay Sharma, Sadhya Group etc. As Vayam always
strives to make a difference to the society, the theme for the festival was ' The Fight for Farmers', under which around Rs. 30,000 were collected for families of the farmers who had committed suicide.
After an array of professional performances and workshops across schools and colleges, Vayam is now
set for yet another theatrical performance.
On Friday, 16th September 2016, Vayam brings to the theatre lovers one of its most celebrated and acclaimed plays, 'Syaahi' to Akshara Theater for two power packed shows. The play is an amalgamation of three stories - Gidhade, Kutte and Sakharam Binder by the renowned Indian playwright, Vijay Tendulkar. It is a fictionalized version of what happens when a writer is unable to distinguish between what is real and what is fiction. The madness and the mayhem that ensues not only affects the protagonist, Vijay but also those around him. The shades of humor, thrill, obsession and fear make this play enthralling, captivating and entertaining for the viewers.
