Vayam Performing Arts Society, a registered organization under Societies Regulation Act 1860, had its humble beginnings in the canteen of Shivaji College, Delhi University in 2006. Vayam is a Sanskrit word meaning “WE”, that embodies the values of the organisation – Togetherness, Integrity, Creativity and Social Empowerment. Run by an ideal blend of Actors, Directors, Script-writers, Technicians and Working professionals; the group has a stronghold in the Delhi Theatre Circuit with an expanding base in Mumbai. Vayam is involved in making Stage and Street plays, based on a variety of thought-provoking issues every year and performing them at various competitive and non-competitive platforms across the country. The organisation has now come up with a unique performing arts festival - Malang 2016.
With over 500 performances and 180 national level prizes, Vayam has cherished accolades at some of the most reputed and distinguished platforms including National School of Drama, National Centre For Performing Arts, Prithvi Theatre, Jana Natya Manch, Kamani, Sirifort, India Habitat Center, Sri Ram Centre, Sahitya Kala Parishad, FICCI Auditorium, Hindi Sahitya Academy (Indore), IIT-Delhi, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur, IIM-Ahmedabad and the like. Vayam’s past collaborations include HelpAge India, National School of Drama, Jana Natya Manch, Uday Foundation, Bukaholic Publications, Haldiram's, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Satya Nirmal Foundation and MAX Hospital.

Malang – The Performing Arts Festival is a ten day long multi-faceted affair scheduled to take place from 9th March 2016 to 18th March 2016 at multiple locations in Delhi. Malang 2016 has been conceived as an exquisite confluence of art forms in India. It is a platform to celebrate the rich diversity and heritage of extraordinary talent, a pursuit to promote traditional and contemporary art forms, an endeavor to drive social change through the power of creativity and conviction.
For the first seven days, street play performances based on a variety of social issues shall take place across prime public locations like Select City Walk - Saket, Rajouri Garden Market, Janakpuri District Center etc. The three day final showdown from 16th to 18th March 2016 at LTG Auditorium, Mandi House includes highly acclaimed and power packed performances across various genres of performing arts. The schedule includes plays like 'Draupadi' with celebrity cast of Rakesh Bedi and Himani Shivpuri; 'Aurangzeb' directed by NSD faculty K.S. Rajendran, Piano Recital by Guinness World Record Holder Mrityunjay Sharma and Contemporary Dance by Sadhya group. The performance line up also includes Vayam's celebrated home productions 'Bade Bhai Sahab', 'Syaahi', 'Jeevita Chellave'. Another highlight of the festival is the screening of an impactful short film on faith and religion called 'Secular'. Keeping in view the alarming number of farmer suicides in India, the overall theme for Malang 2016 is 'The Indian Farmer' and an attempt is made to raise awareness and funds for selfless cultivators of the land.
