CAT and NMAT: Results Aftermath

Common Aptitude Test (CAT) and NMAT by GMAC are the major milestones for all the management aspirants. After CAT, various IIMs shortlist the candidates for second stage of selection which may be independent of each other but include Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI) whereas the NMAT by GMAT enables schools to recruit top talent with the comfort that the test measures the skills needed to succeed in their programs.

This year around 18 lakh students appeared for CAT 2015 examination in 115 centers across India. The CAT examination was held on November 29th 2015 and candidates appeared in NMAT between October 6 and November 8.

The CAT 2015 score will be a pre requisite for the admission process in the top management schools all over India. Post the declaration of the CAT 2015 results, different IIM branches sent interview letters to the students who have been short listed. Comparison of performances of the candidates across different test sessions will be done.

Results this time were like a surprise to students (MBA aspirants) and all waiting for Common Admission Test (CAT) results, IIM Ahmedabad declared the results in an unprecedented manner by sending out direct messages to students on their registered mobile numbers on January 8th 2016. Whereas results of NMAT are available at nmat.org.in.

Concept of NMAT exam is much like CAT, it comprise of 120 multiple choice questions based on three sections, listed below:

Verbal Skills

Quantitative Skills

Logical Reasoning

According to Experts the papers this year was comparatively easier than last year and many students seemed to have scored well in English.

The NMAT by GMAC is a computer based exam. Candidates have a choice of selecting the order/sequence of the test sections.They are allowed only three attempts to clear the examination

As per Business Today’s rankings IIM-A(385 seats) is the best management school in the country followed by IIM-C(407 seats), XLRI and SPJIMR.
