The Shri Ram Economics Summit 2016

The Economics Summit, SRCC was held on 28th and 29th of January in the campus premises. The summit comprised of three major events:

1. Speaker Sessions

2. Knowledge sessions

3. Internship Fair

SPEAKER SESSION

The speakers on Day 1 of the summit were Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission and Mr. Amitabh Kant, present CEO of the Niti Aayog. They spoke on the topics "Reforming Reformed India" and "Starting up an industrial India" respectively.

The speakers on Day 2 of the summit were Dr Bimal Jain, former RBI governor and Dr CP Chandrashekhar, professor JNU. They spoke on the topics "The state of economics, politics and governance in India" and "A new dissection to Foreign Direct Investment" respectively.

The audience to these sessions were college students across Universities in Delhi as well as students from various invited schools. By accessing these sessions school students of gain valuable knowledge and exposure. In between the sessions the volunteers from the summit got school students engaged in a Tambola based activity based on economics. The Young Economist was the competition that school children participated on the second day.

Apart from this, The Banking Round Table was also held on 29th January and was convened by the panel of Mr. Sriram Kalyanraman, Mr. Rakesh Singh and Mr. Arun Kaul.

KNOWLEDGE SESSION

Dr Rohit Azad, assistant professor JNU, also conducted a discussion on "Global Financial Crisis" on Day 1 of the summit.

Day 2 of the summit brought more energy into the knowledge sessions as The institute of Chinese Studies held a discussion on "What made China rich?", a curious question that have must ever haunted the minds of young economist.

INTERNSHIP FAIR

The biggest highlight of the summit was the Internship Fair. Under it, the HR recruiters from top companies and startups visited the campus of SRCC to provide mock interview and real internship offers to students. The registration counter for the internship fair had the maximum crowd. Some of the visiting companies were VC Circle, Grofers, Yoddhas, Zipgo, Medhalt and many more.

There were some pre events that were held before the summit. These were Welfare Hunt (Treasure hunt) and Biz-Wiz Battle. Strong competition emerged in the Biz-wiz battle as the judge Mr. Nipun Mahajan, Vice President, UV capital had a tough time determining the best startup idea
