What comes to your mind when you hear about a youth conference? Probably a typical conference room set-up where few immensely experienced but a bit too old individuals giving you monotonous speeches that you would never wish to attend. But, what if we tell you there exists a youth conference that you would desperately love to attend.

Young India Challenge (YIC) that took place at College of Vocational Studies last weekend broke this prejudice for many who thought youth conferences are unexciting. Organized for the motive of inspiring young minds of the nation to do what they love, the conference saw a great response with hundreds of students applying for it and out of which top 70 candidates were selected after an interview round to be a part of the two days long lifetime journey.

Unlike any other ordinary youth conference, the Day 1 at YIC began with a refreshing exercise session directed by Ms. Wioleta Burdzy Seth for the delegates to get off with all the stress and tiredness from their mind and body. Next in the sequence was ‘Break the ice’ session where everyone introduced themselves and got a chance to know others.

Mr. Kamal Seth (Chief Happiness Officer, Human Circle) then kick-started the interaction session with delegates on the Indian education system with debate moving on further to why majority of engineers pursue MBA after B. Tech and finally ending up with an inspirational video of some eminent personalities of the world like Mark Zuckerberg, talking about their life stories and what pushed them to follow their heart and pursue their passions.

After this, it was time for delegates to brace themselves for the Young India Challenge coz the game was on! They were divided into 8 teams and told to come up with a team name, a team jingle and dance, all this in 20 minutes. Meanwhile, when delegates were busy doing their task, the Happiness Team was leaving no stones unturned to set the stage for the speakers of the day- Yatin K. Thakur (Founder, CoWorkin) and Nikhil Bhaskar (Management Consultant, Boston Consulting Group).

The speaker session began with Mr. Nikhil Bhaskar sharing his life experiences- how he failed every time but never gave up and what driven him to come out of his comfort zone. It was next Mr. Yatin Thakur’s turn on the microphone who told his tale of success- how he came up with the idea of CoWorkin and Startup Weekends and a boy next door emerged as the founder of the largest chain of coworking spaces in Delhi.

At the end, delegates came up with their presentations and the day wrapped up with a small celebration for YIC completing its one successful year of #DoWhatYouLove movement.

Hence we would like to congratulate the Happiness Team for its first anniversary and tell you all to forget about everything and just “Do What You Love”.
