Passion-The Driving Force Of All Successes?

At some stage in our life we have to make a few very substantial decisions which shape our future. One of the many such decisions is the decision where we decide if we want to pursue our passion or we want to pursue something which has higher chances of success. This decision largely or rather fully shapes our career and believe it or not but actually this is not that difficult a decision but it is the norms of the society and the over-protective Indian parents that make this decision all the very more difficult.

One very interesting observation I have learnt is that whenever we have a problem or we want to understand what is the ideal way to handle a situation, we should imagine how would a child react to the situation or what do children choose when given similar choices. Do we agree on this? Let’s take some examples. When a child tries to climb something and falls, he cries for some time and then again attempts to climb and keeps doing this till he reaches the top and this activity of his teaches us a very important lesson of life to never give up, he teaches us one of the most beautiful key to a happy and joyous life and that is to always be jolly and keep smiling. But I want to discuss another attitude of children which is to always follow their heart, always whatever the circumstances are they will only do what they please. We too should learn to always follow our heart, our passions.

Now logically speaking I think that we all understand that the work done by a person who enjoys doing the work is best done by that person. So if a person pursues what he loves he is bound to enjoy it and in turn would always be satisfied with his job and also he is most likely to succeed in that respective field. None of us likes to do something we had to do due to circumstances or were forced to do by our parents or pressure from the society and doing something you don’t love for the whole of your adult life is very disheartening, could damage the person’s self-confidence as we don’t expect someone to do good in something they don’t love.

So all in all I think that pursuing our passion is undoubtedly the way to go if ever we are put in a situation where we have to choose between our passion on one hand and anything other than love (of any kind) on the other as only love can overpower passion. If ever one has to choose between love and passion then according to me just answer this question to yourself “Can your love be fulfilled while or after following your passion?” Your answer itself will tell you what decision you should go with.
