Let’s Discuss Politicians

Yeah you read that right! We have selected politicians as our matter of discussion because India is so much about power and politicians (not politics, politicians). Before independence India had dictator rule so in the culture at that time power carried huge importance and that mindset of valuing power a lot is something we have carried with us ever since. It diminishes the very true meaning or rather difference between dictator rule and democracy, as in democracy each profession is equally valued so the bunch of people who run the country for the people are no more valued than persons practicing any other profession but since we carried that mindset of valuing power the new generations learned the same and started valuing politicians more and more.

Throughout the first paragraph the word value has been used instead of respect because the mindset was of valuing them, giving them undeserved importance and not of respecting them. Even today the illiterate and a lot of literate people who are devoted to corrupt politicians do not respect them as they haven’t done anything that could buy them respect but they just value them. For example there were news that when Jayalalitha became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu again people poured milk on her posters, I mean why do that for someone who is proven of illegal wealth acquisition and whom you know if comes to office again you can’t trust her. Why can’t people understand this simple fact, why aren’t there good honest politicians who could win elections against such corrupt politicians in such a way that the corrupt doesn’t receive a single vote. That is the day I wish to see. I really fail to understand how A Raja who was proven of corruption got 25.58% of votes from his constituency in the 2014 elections. It is not a question of being literate or illiterate as even for an illiterate person it shouldn’t be difficult to decide that the politician had stolen his money once he can steal it again. So here a major role is played by us, the citizens, in one of our great problems “POLITICIANS”.

We all know that we look forward to politicians today as problem and we all know that we need to clean up this system. The ball always was in our court and will always be, we need to act, we need to change the mindset and most of all we need to bring the value of politicians down to what it deserves, that way the greedy won’t enter this profession. Do you know why we have so many corrupt politicians, because it is the best profession for the greedy with no talents to earn money. So let us stop valuing the politicians more and value them exactly as we value an engineer or a doctor so that in the future we can see a day where the citizens respect the politicians.
