First Day of College: Truth Vs Hype

It is indeed true that freshers have numerous expectations on the first day of college, especially when it is the university with the biggest brand name in India - The Delhi University. They have numerous expectations as they step into an entirely different world. I too had some hopes about my first day of college but as they say “Truth is stranger than fiction” I got an experience of this famous quote on my D-Day at Hansraj College.

I never knew politics was this much popular among youth of India! From the road to college upto the college corridors I could just see student committee aspirants campaigning all around.
My expectations turned a bit into reality when only one introductory class took place followed by interaction with seniors. Boys turned out to be tease targets for seniors, though the day ended up on a good note with everyone having smiles on their faces. Seniors made fuchchas do a lot of fun stuff (and I’m not talking about ragging here).

Also, the societies’ performances were really entertaining to watch. Today I got to know why the biggest personalities of the nation are from DU; each society’s performance made us imagine how much dedication and efforts would have been put in for it.
I could feel that I had a good fortune to get admission into Delhi University’s North Campus because from the ambience to the crowd, everything seemed to be just perfect, though not as it is portrayed in movies!

Few metres away, I later wards got to know, some students of the same course were having a tough time with all lectures on the first day itself and groups being formed by students of particular states. Hahaha! Of course, I’m talking about SRCC.

All in all, the session had a satisfying and dynamic start. Time will tell what lies ahead of these early days of exuberance.
